8th grade creates ceramic work

Our Studio Class was challenged to create Three Dimensional Ceramic work using our Sculpture center. Cadets learned about ceramics using polymer clay and air-dry ceramics. Our class generated the theme "Conflict/Peace". They researched, planned, and created different works that represent Conflict or Peace.

8th grade creates fearful prints

Our 8th grade class was challenged to create Two-Dimensional work using printmaking. They learned about linoleum reduction prints, stamping, tangrams, collagraph prints, monoprints, and Rorschach Ink tests. Our class generated the theme "Fear". They researched, planned, and created different works that represent Fear.

Day of the Dead with grade 8

We had a guest come in to talk about the Mexican holiday, Day of the Dead (Dia de Muertos), and share her family tradition of creating sugar skulls and celebrating loved ones. Ms. McGuinness brought in traditional bread, pan de muerto, and Mexican spiced hot chocolate. The cadets enjoyed decorating their own sugar skull cookie with icing.

8th Grade Project 3: "Adventure" theme using painting center

Our Eighth Graders explored the theme "Adventure" through various types of painting. They were given the option to explore water color pencils, acrylic, oil, watercolor, and spray paint. As with every project, students are required to use their sketchbook for planning, researching artists online and in print, and practicing to develop their craft.

Eighth and Ninth grade workshops

We had a busy day today in Wednesday Workshop! The Spanish teacher, Ms. Clavin, came in to discuss a short recital and ask for help creating White Roses, based on a poem. Our students also helped create items for the Day of the Dead altar, finished class projects, and fell in love with Shrinky Dinks. Busy day!
