7th Grade Design creates simple circuits!

Our 7th grade Design class are learning how to create a simple circuit to power two LED lights with a coin cell battery. They designed their own ornaments to decorate our Christmas Tree!

Updated 11/8 7th Grade creates parabolic curves

Our 7th grade Design class are learning how to create parabolic curves. They are using math to create the structure and will use needle and thread to complete their designs.
Cadets began by tracing their foam square on a paper. Using a ruler, they drew straight lines from corner to corner, horizontally, and vertically through the center.
Cadets started at the center and created five marks at 1/2 inch along each line. Every other line, they labeled the marks 1-5 radiating from the center. The alternating lines were marked 5-1 from the center.
Cadet Sun and Cadet Zelenger thread needles and begin sewing straight lines to connect numbers from one line to the next.

Welcome Fall with 7th Grade's Workshop

7th Graders act as designers. They met with a client, brainstormed, and envisioned seasonal bulletin boards for their dining facility. Ms. Pasquale helped collaborate with our class and we produced our first display together.

7th Grade Linear Perspective

Our 7th grade Design class learned how Renaissance artists used mathematics and observation to create realistic 3D landscapes on a 2D surface. They learned how to create a horizon line, vanishing point, vertical, horizontal, and orthogonal lines. Using these techniques, our cadets have been creating either rooms or cities using linear perspective.
