Our
7th grade Design class are learning how to create parabolic curves. They are using math to create the structure and will use needle and thread to complete their designs.
Cadets began by tracing their foam square on a paper. Using a ruler, they drew straight lines from corner to corner, horizontally, and vertically through the center. |
Cadets started at the center and created five marks at 1/2 inch along each line. Every other line, they labeled the marks 1-5 radiating from the center. The alternating lines were marked 5-1 from the center. |
Cadet Sun and Cadet Zelenger thread needles and begin sewing straight lines to connect numbers from one line to the next. |
Cadet Geng thoughtfully threads his needle |
Cadet Thermidor prepares the green thread to connect all the "2's" |
Cadet Pena begins threading yellow for his fourth lines. |
Work in progress... |
